About Sexual Addiction
Sexual addiction is a complex dependency on sexual arousal and sexual activity. It includes a spectrum of behaviors which includes masturbation, pornography, fantasy and a host of other behaviors. Like all addictions, it begins small with low risk. Eventually, the thrill from one behavior diminishes. Eventually, behaviors occur more frequently. Behaviors evolve into others of higher risk. The behaviors become compulsive and begin to occupy larger and larger amounts time for the person involved. Sexual addiction exists in many places and among many people. It is not simply the stories we read about in the newspaper. It is not just the man involved in a pornography ring or the woman who sleeps around. Rather, it is men and women, mothers and fathers, siblings, children etc... It is numerous people who share one thing in common. They cannot stop the compulsive sexual behavior they have become involved in.
